Make your first woodworking project easy
You have decided you want to try to build something from wood. Now you just need to figure
out what you would like to create, how much money you are willing to spend and how long you have to work on it. For a beginner, it is best to start out with a smaller project such as a table, simple shelf or bird house. Not many fancy curves and bends, just straight corners and a smooth finish.
Finding a plan for a woodworking project for a beginner is actually quite easy. Looking online for free plans, scouting your local home improvement store or checking out the library are three very easy ways to find plans suitable to your skill level. Many beginners want to build something beautiful right away. Unfortunately, highly detailed, large projects take a lot of skill and a lot of time to accomplish.
It is best to start out small, build your skill level gradually and have a couple successes before you attempt a huge masterpiece that will be envied by all. When selecting your plans, you need to have a vision of what you wish to build. Not just a general outline, but the details too. Exactly what you want the project to look like. With this vision in your mind, start scouting the resources and find that perfect project that you want to build.
Once you have found that perfect plan, now you must gather the materials and tools needed to produce that item. As always, make sure that you are using the proper safety gear as well. Safety goggles, gloves, hearing protection and perhaps an apron may be appropriate, depending on the project.

My First Scroll Saw Project
My two sons gave me a Delta scroll saw for Christmas and this is my first project using it. An amazing tool and lots of fun. The picture is of my younger son on his wedding day three years ago. It is going to be hard for me to wait for an occasion to give it to them.
