Ideas for woodworking projects

Woodworking ideas come in every imaginable shape and size. From a simple bookcase to an

extravagant cabinet or dresser, there are literally thousands of projects that you can make with wood. Toys, beds, benches, cabinets and shelves, you can find almost any pattern that you choose to make.

Once you’ve decided on a project, you will need to find a pattern or plan. Many patterns are available online for free and you can also purchase patterns online and in many craft stores or even lumber stores. Some projects are available as a kit as well.

The project you choose will likely depend on your skill level, the amount of time you want to invest in the project and budget for the project. Children especially like to build with wood because it is a simple material for a child to work with.

For some, woodworking is a hobby while for others it is a business. For example, making wooden toys for children could be just a rewarding experience or it could be a very profitable business. Many small toys can be fashioned out of a small bit of wood that may have been left over from another project. Making wooden blocks which are later sanded and painted is an inexpensive project that could be rewarding and profitable.

Many toys that are today made from plastic were once made from wood. Wooden cars, trains, blocks, and other carved projects have been restructured into a molded plastic. Children, especially younger ones, really enjoy the hands on of building their own toys or even watching someone else do it for them.

Many woodworking plans can be found online and offline. Find a project that you like and get started! It can be that easy.
