How to find free woodworking projects

Woodworking plans exist for nearly every woodworking project imaginable. Finding free

woodworking plans is actually quite simple. Depending on what you are looking for, the search may be more extensive for a detailed, extravagant project and really quick and easy for a simple project.

The first step is to try an internet search. Using Google or any other search engine, search for ‘free woodworking plans’ and select the results that you think are relevant to what you are looking for. Most of the plans are then down loadable to your own computer to be printed and used. Some you can only view on the screen, making it somewhat difficult to follow while you are working on the project.

Another great source for free woodworking plans is your local home improvement store. Many offer free patterns for numerous projects. These are already printed and ready for you to use. Keep in mind that many of the patterns are rotated on display regularly and what you may have saw last week may not be there this week. When in doubt, just ask an associate if they have them.

Still another great source for free woodworking plans is your local library. There are literally millions of books available on woodworking and woodworking projects. Your librarian can help you find these. In some cases, they may allow you to copy the patterns out of the books right there at the library. In other cases, you may need to check out the book and make your own copy. When doing this, make sure you check the copyright information so that you do not get in trouble for copying something that you shouldn’t.
